The Severn Area Rescue Association provides In-shore rescue boat and land search services for the Severn Estuary and upper reaches of the River Severn. SARA is called out by the HM Coastguard, Police, Fire Brigade or Ambulance services.
It was decided to have a station at Tewkesbury in 2008 and for the last 10 months or so members have been busy training to the professional standard of the other stations. We are currently seeking suitable premises.
We need to fund raise to enable us to build a station and one of our fundraising events is to be a “Black Tie” dinner, dance and hopefully auction.
Tables, seating 10, are available for this function, which will be held with kind permission of Tewkesbury Park Hotel, on Saturday 19th September, in the marquee with the stunning backdrop of the surrounding countryside.
If you would like to support SARA Tewkesbury at this function we would ask for a minimum donation of £600 per table, if you are also able to provide an item for the Auction that would also be gratefully received.
Tewkesbury crew members will be there on the night to offer you a welcome drink and we look forward to seeing you.
SARA receives no government funding and as it costs approx £20,000pa to run one station and around £1000 to equip each crew member.
